Who is Wiel Aerts


Wiel Aerts was born in Venlo in 1947. He is married with one son and one daughter, and proud grandfather of three grandchildren..

After leaving school, he completed various sales and marketing related studies and became a registered qualified export manager. (Ministry of Economic Affairs).

After having worked for six years in Germany as the head of an export department, he was employed in the world of banking before working for some year in real estate and insurance.
Various companies employed him as an export marketing manager, specialised in the Far East, the Middle East and Central Europe.
His main tasks were finding and appointing importers, training sales staff on location and organising participation at trade fairs in various countries. Through creating and sustaining long-term business relationships in these countries, excellent results were achieved.
His many years of international experience in marketing were also a great advantage in his political career.

After a period of eight years on the Venlo council, he was elected Councillor. His portfolio covered economic affairs, social affairs, culture and sport. This broad sphere of activity enables him to build up a substantial network in the Netherlands and in the neighbouring German state North Rhine-Westphalia. He paid an important contribution to the development of the industrial Trade Ports in Venlo particularly through encouraging a number of important American and Japanese companies to settle in Venlo.

 

 

 

He is a fervent exponent of regional co-operation, preferably trans-border. He is known for his constant commitment and dedication to cooperative ventures between both border regions. In his role as chairman of the Business Club Maas Rhine he ensures this regional commitment takes solid form.
He is also a member of the B2B working party of the Euregio Rhine Maas North. He has taken an active part in the business community in this region for many years and acts as an advisor on trans-border cooperation for many companies. His is employed in this capacity by firms such as the Investor Center Ost- Brandenburg and WestLB.
He regularly lectures in Germany and organises visits to potentially interesting regions for Dutch entrepreneurs.
On a social level, he is chairman of the board of the Limburgs Museum and sits on the committees of various organisations in Venlo and the surrounding area.

His wide international experience and extensive network form the foundation of Com-B-Nations BV.
